F.A.Q.

These are one of the most asked questions regarding the usage of this site:

1. I want to have my video listed on this site. How?

The quickest way of getting your video listed on the site is to simply visit the Add Video page.

If you are the copyright holder please send us the link where the film can be watched online and embedded from there along with the title and/or description.

2. Who hosts these files? (DISCLAIMER)

None of the audio/visual content is hosted on this site. All media is embedded from other sites such as YouTube and Vimeo

This site does not host any of the streaming media and neither the owner nor the users have uploaded any of the material to the video hosting servers. Anyone can find the same content on YouTube or Vimeo by themselves.

Content Owners can request removal of embedded videos that they believe infringe their copyright.

We are willing to remove any violating material immediately upon request. The copyright owner must further contact the source if he wants his material off the Internet completely. Read the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy as use of this site constitutes acceptance of them.

3. Why do I have to select a town, genre, etc. when I add a video?

Video Nation is a curated online video platform built for local communities.

Our goal is to allow users to build a constantly updated database of video content for every town and every voice in Ireland.

To be of use, this database needs to be easily searchable, hence the categorisation.

Remember that towns the video was shot in are also relevant to any video posted on Video Nation. We recommend mentioning this in the Description of the Add Video page.

If you feel that you cannot find a town, type of video or genre that is relevant to your content, do get in touch

4. I want to use material featured on this site. How?

Do not ask us to send you material – We don’t have any.

If you want to screen or feature some of the films in front of an audience in your community, in theaters, cinemas, festivals, or on a TV Network, please don’t ask us if you’re allowed to. Find the producers and ask them.

5. I have a problem viewing the streaming videos.

If the screen is blank and nothing happens the video has probably been removed, therefore it’s not your fault. Also some of the videos are NOT iPad/iPhone compatible.

Download Firefox or Chrome. We use them and we have no problems whatsoever.

Go to Troubleshoot playing videos – YouTube Help or Playback Issues on Vimeo.

If you are still having problems then we are unable to help you after that I’m afraid.

6. Why have some videos been removed?

Video Nation reserves the right to remove previously approved videos if it is deemed that they have violated our Curation Guidelines. We try to contact all users who post videos if it has been decided to remove them with an explanation. If you have had a video removed and have not been contacted, do get in touch.

Furthermore, videos may have been removed by YouTube or Vimeo and we are simply unaware of this. If you see a video that remains on the site but has been removed by the hosting provider, do get in touch.

7. Who updates this site?

Read the About page.
